ENTRY DETAILS FOR STUDENT HANDOUT COMPETITION  January/February 2007

 

TASK:   Design an A4 handout or publicity leaflet on any aspect of the work of UNIFEM. The leaflet should be double-sided A4 size and designed so it can be easily reproduced and can be folded in half or into 3 for easy posting.

 

CONTENT:  The information on the leaflet must be based on the work of UNIFEM. It can cover any of the main themes of UNIFEM’s work such as:-

·         Peace and Security;

·         HIV/AIDS;

·         Violence against Women

·         Women, Poverty and Economics

·         Human Rights

·         Millennium Goals

           The leaflet should include at least one specific project which UNIFEM has set up or helped to finance/organise            within a particular theme.  For example: Peace and Security:  UNIFEM and partners worked with the “Women’s      Peace Caravan” in Uganda. In Oct. 2006 the Women’s Peace Torch returned to Kampala Uganda after a journey covering               many years and visiting 10 African countries with the message “There is no sustainable development without peace

 

RESEARCH:  Information on the work of UNIFEM can be found on both the main UNIFEM website www.unifem.org or on the UNIFEM UK website www.unifemuk.org   

 

AIM:     The aim of the leaflet should be to promote and publicise the work of UNIFEM and should be targeted at young people.

 

FEE:   There is no fee for entry.  The first 20 entries will each receive a colourful linen textile carry bag with the UNIFEM logo and a bird of peace design.

 

PRIZES:  First prize- £100 Second Prize- £50.

 

COPYRIGHT:  Photographs etc. on UNIFEM websites or publications may be used in the   leaflets. Otherwise entrants are responsible for ensuring that they have permission to        use any pictures or photographs under copyright law.

UNIFEM UK will have copyright of all material submitted as part of the competition and will retain all entries for possible future use.  The authorship       of any leaflet used for publicity or publishing will be acknowledged.

 

WHO MAY ENTER:  The competition is open to all bona fide students of any educational establishment in Yorkshire or anyone who is a student member of the Yorkshire branch.

 

HOW TO ENTER:  All entries should be accompanied by details of name, address, and quick contact points – preferably both email address and telephone number - as well as details of the educational institution and course being studied by the entrant. CLOSING DATE:  Entries MUST be received by post by Monday 26th February, 2007.  The winners will be announced on:- International Women’s Day  -  8th March 2007.
